A Corner of the Ocean

“I was much too far out all my life and not waving but drowning.” Stevie Smith

A man goes missing in a diving accident. The story of his mysterious disappearance strangely touches and unsettles the lives of four women in different parts of the world.

From the depths of their lives begin to surface the many people they could have been, the risks they didn’t take, the strangers they didn’t love, the fears they daren’t confront and the dreams of others that begin seeping into their own.

Featuring puppetry, live musical accompaniment and a capella singing, ‘A Corner of The Ocean&rsquo takes a darkly comic look at our everyday struggles to keep a head above the water.

Made in collaboration with director Jamie Wood (whose credits include ‘Paperweight’ with Top of The World and ‘Donkey Shadow’ for Petra’s Pulse) and musician, composer and sound artist, Gregory Hall.

‘A Corner of the Ocean’ has been developed in partnership with Beaford Arts Centre and with support from The Exeter Northcott.
